Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1931

Margaret Yonker MARGARET MARY "PEGGY" YONKER ANDRUS, 71, passed away Nov. 8, 1999. Peggy was born April 17, 1928, in Ranger, TX, to Tom, Sr. & Moselle Yonker. She attended St. Rita's School and Ranger High School in the Class of 1931. Peggy finished at Freer High School, where she was football sweetheart, class favorite, yearbook editor, and drum major. She received her bachelor's degree in biology from Texas A&I (Texas A&M University-Kingsville) in 1948. She enjoyed a long professional career in the oil and gas industry in Corpus Christi, & was retired from Freeport-McMoRan Oil and Gas Company and Everest Minerals Corporation. Peggy devoted her life to the large and loving family who survived her, including her two daughters Nancy (Matt) Jacobs of East Hartford, Connecticut, and Jane Andrus of Houston; three sons John (Priscilla) Andrus of Austin, David Andrus of Corpus Christi, and Jim (Carol) Andrus of Victoria; former husband Dick (Alice) Andrus of Rockport, stepdaughter Sarah (Frank) Hunt of Portland; sisters-in-law Dolores Yonker and Jean Carson of Corpus Christi; special friends Olivia and Albert Puga, Jr.; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. The many friends she loved, and who cherished her, cannot be counted. She will be reunited in Heaven with her parents, her sister Sue Yonker Roberts (RHS-1942), and brother Tom Yonker, Jr. (RHS-1925). Other siblings were Ester Yonker Kirkpatrick (RHS-1923), Fred Yonker (RHS-1932), Jeanette Yonker (RHS-1929), and Mary Yonker Ferrara (RHS-1934).
