Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1943

Lonnie & Shirley Mayhall LONNIE LEO MAYHALL, 52, died on April 7, 1978 in Taylor County, TX, with burial in the Elmwood Memorial Park at Abilene, TX. He was born May 24, 1925, the son of Alvin and Cordelia C. Hames Mayhall of Eastland County, TX, near Ranger, TX. Lonnie's brothers and sisters were, Jewel E. Mayhall Franklin, Floyd Mayhall, Arthur T. Mayhall, Florence E. Mayhall, & Alvin Kennith Mayhall. At an early age Lonnie, as was his family heritage, began singing in church. He was recruited by several singing schools, but was unable to attend because all children were needed to help work the family peanut farm. He attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1943. By the age of 21, he was manager of the Piggly Wiggley grocery store in Ranger. Lonnie married Shirley L. Kinsfather (RHS-1945) and they had 3 daughters & a son born to this union: Sharon L. Mayhall Watts, Elaine C. Mayhall Sanders, Janel J. Mayhall Young, and then Lonnie L. Mayhall, Jr. Lonnie sang gospel music in churches all over the state of Texas for many years. He was a member of The Gospel-Aires Quartet and sang on KRBC TV in Abilene for 9 years. Lonnie worked in the insurance business for many years and won many awards for his salesmanship. Lonnie also worked with his brother Kennith, who both were involved with music. Lonnie was the music minister, choir leader, and Adult Sunday School Teacher in the First Pentecostal Church (his father in law Rev. J.J. Kinsfather's church) of Abilene for many years.
