Dorothy Wooley Chandler DOROTHY EVELYN WOOLEY CHANDLER, 94, passed away on June 4, 2020, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4, 2020, with interment at Grand View Memorial Park in Pasadena, TX. Dorothy was born May 12,1926 in Stephenville, TX to Estle and Mantie Wooley. When Dorothy was a child, they moved to Ranger, TX, where she grew up and attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1943. After graduating, she moved to Pasadena, TX. Dorothy was employed at Southwestern Bell and worked as a telephone operator. In 1949, she met her husband Lloyd T. Chandler, on a blind date. They dated and fell in love and they were married in 1950. After two years of marriage they were blessed with their first child, a baby boy they named Terry. Three years later, a second child, their daughter Sandra, was born to complete their family. The family happily resided in Pasadena, on Cherry St., for 50 years. Dorothy was faithfully married to Lloyd for 41 years until his death in March of 1991. Dorothy was an active member of South Main Baptist Church. Her church family and service to God and others was a focal part of her life. Of particular note, was her membership in the Mavericks class. On the second Tuesday of every month, they had Joy Club, where the seniors played games and dominos. She loved getting together with these dear friends, playing 84 dominos and was an excellent player. Everyone wanted to be her partner because she usually won every game. Dorothy's best friends were Pat and Frank Fuller. When she was still able to drive, Pat and Frank dressed as clowns and went to the area nursing homes to entertain the residents. Dorothy was their designated driver because they couldn't drive because of their big clown shoes. She truly loved visiting the nursing homes and bringing joy and laughter to others. Dorothy is preceded in death by her loving husband Lloyd Chandler, her son Terry Chandler, her parents Estle & Mantie Wooley, brother Glenn Wooley (RHS- 1940) and sister Laverne Wooley Estes (RHS-1939). Dorothy is survived by her daughter Sandra Butler, husband, Kenneth of Pasadena TX., and her sister Mildred Madley of Conroe TX. She had two grand- children, Michael Butler of Livingston, TX and Brian Butler of Pasadena. One great-grandchild Madalyn, and several nieces and nephews and many dear friends from South Main Baptist Church. For the last year of her life she lived at Heartis Clear Lake Assisted living. Vantage Hospice was also involved in Dorothy's care. Both entities were remarkable in the great care they provided to Dorothy, and are to be commended for their heartfelt concern and care they displayed. It has meant so much to her family to know she has been well cared for, especially during Covid-19, when family was not permitted in the facility to safeguard the residents.
