Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1944

DOROTHY WYMER BECK, 56, was born Oct. 12, 1927 and died in July of 1984 while living in Odessa, TX. She was in the Ranger High School Class of 1944 at Ranger, TX & married Oliver O. Beck in 1945 at Ranger. They had 2 sons, William D. Beck & Richard M. Beck, and a daughter, Valencia Beck Stevens. Her parents were Robert and Mahdeen Wymer and she had sisters Helen Louise Wymer Plumley (RHS- 1947), Bobbye Harbin (RHS-1946) of San Angelo, Betty Wymer Williams (RHS-1950) & Shirley Wymer Griffin (RHS-1956) of Ranger, TX. HUSBAND: OLIVER O. BECK, 83, passed away after a long illness on April 24, 2008 with burial in Odessa, TX. Oliver was born in Ranger on Jan. 28, 1925 to Charlie & Frankie Freeman Beck. He was the eldest of seven children. He spent his childhood in the Ranger/Morton Valley area. He enlisted in the Navy during WWII and was a Gunners Mate on the USS Levy (DE-162). He married Dorothy Wymer (RHS- 1944) in Oct. of 1945 at Ranger. They moved to Odessa and spent the next 40 years there. Oliver worked as a contract pumper for Texaco and retired at the age of 58. Dorothy passed away in 1984 and Oliver moved back to Olden and has lived there for the past 20 years. He enjoyed smoking and playing dominoes and 42. Oliver is preceded in death by a son, William Douglas, his wife, Dorothy, his mom and dad, Frankie & Charlie, a brother Jerry Beck (RHS-1950) and a baby sister Anna Charlene Beck. He is survived by a daughter, Valencia Beck Stevens; son, Robert Charles Beck; his four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Beck; and three sisters, Glenda Beck Hart (RHS-1952), Lillian Beck Petree (RHS-1953), & Dortha Beck Wood (RHS-1957).
