MATTIE (AKA MATTA) LOU SEARCY NICHOLS was born
in Ranger on Nov. 7, 1928, to Jesse Perry Searcy &
Gladys Dickson Searcy. She graduated from Ranger
High School in the Class of 1947. Mattie married Coy
Nichols in January of 1950, at Ranger, TX. They had
three children and were divorced in 1970. Her three
three children were Ray Nichols, James Nichols, and
one girl Jeanna Nichols Huey (RHS-1977). She later
married Carl E. Handrick in Eastland County. In
Jan. of 1973, she married Douglas Mayo in Dallas
County; in July of 1977, she married Henry Hancock
in Brazoria County, TX, and also to Charles M. Perry,
Sr., Brazoria. She was a nurse and died on Sept. 14,
2000, at Cleburne, TX.
