Ranger Exes Memorial - RHS Class of 1948

Malcom Offield MALCOM EARL "MONK" OFFIELD went to his heavenly home on April 25, 2019. Malcom was born on Oct. 19, 1930 in Breckenridge, TX to Malcom & Maxine Offield and raised in Breck- enridge and Ranger, TX. He graduated from Ranger High School in 1948 & attended college in Arlington and Denton. He met Billie Sue Latimer at a dance and they later married in Dec. of 1950 in Albany, TX. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951 during the Korean War, stationed in Baltimore and San Antonio, then assigned as an Operating Room Tech at the military hospital in Germany thru 1953. "Monk" and Billie Sue had three daughters and one son. He worked for Recognition Equipment in Dallas as a machinist and as an entrepreneur, had his own appliance repair business and other businesses. He and Billie Sue moved back to Breckenridge in 1979, where he stayed busy with real estate & participated in Senior Citizen Center activities. Monk loved being on the water and was always an avid fisherman, the fish just seemed to jump into his boat. He enjoyed golf, tennis and dominoes, an Offield family tradition. He played guitar and was very competitive in all sports and board games. He was an extremely hard worker, loved being outdoors and watching the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers games from his living room recliner. He was a faithful Christian who loved to share Jesus with others. His humor and smile will be missed by all that knew and loved him. Malcom was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Billie Sue, his daughter, Stephanie Moldenhauer and his parents. He is survived by his sister, Emma Juanett Squyres, his children; Malcom Offield (Jenny), Catherine Hinojoza (Henry), Melissa Burda (Joe), and (Keith Moldenhauer), his grandchildren; Shannon Burgan (Kim), Scott Burgan (Kelly), Rebecca Burgan (Tiffany), Steven Offield (Dahlia), Julie Offield, Rachel King (Zack), Ryan Hinojoza (Molly), Joseph Burda and Meagan Burda, his great grandchildren; Cassidy Burgan, Autumn Burgan, Jerry Burgan, Adam Felan, Jacob Felan, Taylor Burgan, Braden Burgan, Avery Burgan, Claire Offield, Clark Offield and Ava King. There were many "Monk-isms", but one of his favorite sayings was, "It's gonna get better, I just don't know when." On Thursday morning between 6:30a.m. & 9:30a.m., things got a lot better for him, as he is now in the arms of his Savior in his final home.
