ANDREW M. HAMILTON, 53, a custom saddle maker & owner
of Hamilton's Saddle Shop in Westbrookville, NY, & longtime
area resident, died suddenly on Sept. 13, 2002 at Marshall's
Creek, PA.
The son of Juanita Hamilton and the late William P. Hamilton,
was born October 18, 1948 in Ranger, TX. He was a member
of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church in Otisville; communicant
of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Middletown;
a member of the Academy of Western Artists; a corporate member
of Working Ranch Cowboys Association; a member of the Dry
Creek Arts Fellowship in Flagstaff, AZ; and a Veteran of the
United States Navy Corpman in Vietnam.
Andy was part of the winning '67-68 Bulldog football teams at
Ranger High School. He played guard and linebacker under
Coaches DeWitt Jones and Charlie Smith. He was a runner-up
state linebacker in '67. He was featured in many Abilene
Reporter stories for the intensity of the games played those
years, and his ferocity in playing football was well known
in the area. He was #61 in those years. Andy moved to New
York in the late 60's after 2 years at Sul Ross University,
being stationed in New York with the U.S. Navy.
Survivors at the time of his death include his wife, Lois
Czaikowski Hamilton of the home; son, Stephen Hamilton of
Brooklyn; daughters, Rachel and Amanda Hamilton of Palm Beach,
FL; his mother, Juanita Hamilton of Ranger; brother, Jimmy
Hamilton (RHS-1968) of Ranger; sisters, Vivian Hamilton
Robichaud (RHS-1972) of Philadelphia, PA, Patsy Hamilton
Davis (RHS-1973) of Eastland, TX and Susan Hamilton Butler
(RHS-1975) of Washington DC; another brother, Edward Hamilton
(RHS-1977) of Sunnyvale, CA; as well as aunts, uncles, several
nieces and nephews.
MOTHER: JUANITA ROSALES HAMILTON, 90, beloved
mother passed away on Feb. 22, 2023, with interment at
Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, TX.
She was born on October 2, 1932, to Jose Rosales and Rafaela
Alvarez Rosales. Juanita was a lifelong resident of Ranger. She
had worked with the health care industry for the community which
included serving as a caregiver and companion to the elderly.
The Catholic Church was an important part of her life. Among
other roles, she served as a member of the Finance Committee,
past President of the St. Rita’s Altar Society, and Sacristan
by preparing for celebration of the Mass.
Her hobbies included quilting, crochet, gardening, and painting.
She often shared these items with the church for fund raising
activities. Juanita loved her community and also worked with
the Ranger Historical Preservation Society.
She was predeceased by her husband - Willie Paul Hamilton, her
father- Jose Rosales, her mother - Rafaela Alvarez Rosales,
brothers and one sister – Camillo Rosales, Angela Jimenez,
Francisco Rosales, and her sons – Andrew Hamilton and Jimmy
Hamilton.
Juanita was survived by her children – Vivian Robichaud,
Patricia Davis, Susan Butler, and Edward Hamilton. She was
rich in family with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
and a great-great-grandchild.
