Beth Pearson Cosper BETH PEARSON COSPER, 86, passed away on Aug. 10, 2018 in Odessa, TX, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at Ranger, TX. She was born on Aug. 8, 1932 to Lee Roy Pearson & Vera Blair in Ranger. She attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1949. In 1952, she married James Shafer Cosper in Ranger. She taught school in 3 Texas towns - Levelland, McCamey, & Odessa. She also volunteered with Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and was a life member of the NRA. She enjoyed gardening, reading, keeping a lovely home, and traveling to Dallas. She is survived by her husband James Shafer Cosper of Odessa, TX; son Larry and Karen Cosper, Flower Mound, TX; grandson James Cosper III, Eastland, TX; granddaughter Kelsey and Joona Pelttari, Espoo, Finland and one great- grandchild Onni Pelttari. Beth is preceded in death by her parents Lee Roy & Vera Pearson; son James Cosper Jr.; siblings Electra Pearson (RHS-1939), Lee Roy Pearson Jr. (RHS-1941), Lynn Pearson Heath (RHS-1943), Mercedes Pearson (RHS-1943), and Larry Champ Pearson (RHS-1951). HUSBAND: JAMES SHAFER COSPER was born Dec. 11 1926 near Florence, TX. He graduated from high school in Strawn, TX. He attended Ranger Jr. College. James served in the Navy in WWII and the Korean conflict. He graduated from Hardin Simmons University. He married the love of his life, Beth Pearson Cosper, in Dec. of 1952. They were blessed by two sons, James Jr & Larry David. James died on March 11, 2021. He is preceded in death by his wife, Beth (2018); son, James Jr. (2012); his parents; sisters, Betty Neeley and Nancy Pinnell; and brother, Dale Eugene. He is survived by his son, Larry and wife, Karen; grandson, James III; granddaughter, Kelsey and husband Joona Pelttari; and great-grandchildren Onni and Emmi. He is also survived by a sister, Peggy Tolles and husband Jim; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. His career started with Texas Pacific Oil company. He was initially based in Levelland, TX. A few years later, he and Beth settled their family in Odessa, TX. James was an avid outdoorsman with hobbies that included hunting and fishing. He retired after a long career in the oil industry. He lived in Odessa until 2018 when he relocated to Lewisville, TX. James was a kind, generous, loving, and strong man who accomplished much in his 94 years. He was a good friend to many and could tell a few stories. He will be missed.
